Owning a vintage turntable is more than a hobby—it’s a connection to music history. Whether you play vinyl daily or occasionally, regular maintenance is the key to keeping your record player sounding its best.
1. Keep It Clean
Dust is your worst enemy. Use an anti-static brush to clean records before every play, and gently wipe the stylus with a stylus brush or cleaning gel.
2. Check Your Belt and Motor
If your turntable runs slow or fast, it may be time to replace the belt. Motors can also dry out—have them lubricated periodically by a technician.
3. Inspect the Cartridge and Stylus
A worn stylus can damage your records. Replace it after approximately 800–1,000 hours of use.
4. Level and Isolate
Make sure your turntable sits on a stable, vibration-free surface. Consider using isolation pads to reduce unwanted resonance.
Regular maintenance not only preserves your equipment but also ensures your vinyl sounds as warm and clear as the artist intended.
